Who Killed Gene Ransom Killed In Oakland? Check Suspect Name Images Shooting Video



UC Berkeley basketball legend Gene Ransom has been killed in a freeway shooting along I-880 in Oakland. According to Gene’s close friends, he was killed on Friday evening, February 4, 2022. As the news was announced, Cal Athletics expressed their sadness on the incident. They said they are shocked to hear the reports that the Hall of Famer has been identified as a victim in a deadly shooting. They added that their thoughts are also with Gene’s family and friends and went on to address Gene as one of the greatest players in their men’s basketball program’s history.

Todd Walker who was close to Gene Ransom remembered him as “Gene the Dream” and said that he was a kid who created history while playing for Berkeley High School in the 1970s. Walker further said that the news just makes you want to cry all day long as it came as a shocker to them.  McGlothen who was a freshman on the team also paid the basketball player sincere tributes. He said that Gene was like a big brother to him and all of the teammates.

Who killed Gene Ransom?

McGlothen recalled him being a father figure during that year. He further said that Gene would always give us that big hug and would wrap his arms around people. He said that he was small in stature but he was a strong man and he has got big hands that he wrapped around the people with love. Talking about the suspect who is expected to have killed Gene Ransom, it is coming forward that California Highway Patrol has arrested the suspect.

The suspect is identified as 25-year-old Juan Angel Garcia belonging to San Fransisco. He is booked in Alameda County Jail in suspect of murdering Ransom. The arrest took place on Saturday morning, February 4, 2022. According to Gene’s friends, the latter was killed on Friday around 5 PM. The official said that Ransom was driving a black Honda Civic near the Oak Street exit.

It was the moment when the suspect Garcia who was driving a black Lexus sedan reportedly drove to the left of Geene and collided with his car and stroke him once. After the incident, Garcia escaped the scene while Gene Ransom died due to his life-threatening injuries. Besides, it is reported that no other occupant was inside the vehicle with Gene. Undoubtedly, Gene Ransom’s death has shocked many people in the Bay Area community.
