The 74-year-old actor was an Indian film actor, hammer and discus thrower, politician and Border Security Force (BSF) former soldier. Praveen joined the security forces at the age of 20 where he gained the attention of the officers through his athletic skills. Praveen went on to represent his country at various athletic events that occurred in Discus Throw. At Asian Games, the actor had won a total of four medals including two gold medals and a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games.
Praveen Kumar also participated in two Olympics. Talking about his career as an actor, he has appeared in over 50 films where BR Chopra’s directed mythological television series ‘Mahabharat’ helped him garner international acclaim. In movies, he had debuted from the film “Raksha” and was also seen in “Meri Awaz Suno”. Praveen also contested in the 2013 Delhi Legislative elections on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket but could not win. Later, in 2014, the actor-athlete joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
