The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, has condoled with families of victims of a fatal accident that occurred on Thursday at the abattoir located at Waterside River area of Ogbor Hill, Aba,
A loaded trailer had crashed into the abattoir and killed many people.
Reacting, Orji, in a statement issued to newsmen in Umuahia, on Friday, expressed shock and urged the affected families to take solace in God who alone can comfort them in these trying times.
The number one lawmaker assured them of his prayers and also asked almighty God to grant the souls of the departed eternal rest.
Meanwhile, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has directed the immediate relocation of the affected abattoirs to the following new locations; New Omuma Uzor Abattoir in Ukwa West, and Good Morning Market, Aba, for those currently in Ahia Udele.
He further directed the Ministry of Homeland Security to work with relevant security agencies in ensuring compliance.
The directive was contained in a press release by the state Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, on Thursday.
