A 23-year-old woman named Comfort Peter has opened up about how a Nigerian soldier had impregnated her and abandoned her after he promised to marry her.

Comfort, who is now asking the Nigerian military for aid in finding her ex-lover, sergeant Julius Simon, claimed that in 2017, after arriving Bauchi state for a special operation, the soldier defiled her at the age of 19 after arriving for the mission.

Moreover, she said that the woman with whom she was working disapproved of the affair. Having been forced to choose between education and marriage by her father, Comfort, who revealed that Simon was 30 at the time, recounted choosing marriage.

Comfort said;

“She told me that if Julius actually loves me then he should come to our house. When I told him (Simon), he agreed and started coming to our house.

“My father said he desired that I go for further studies because I just finished secondary school but Julius promised to marry me.

Adding that Julius told her father he planned to marry her, Comfort claimed he defiled her shortly after inviting her to his house and claiming that they have finished their assignment in Bauchi and are planning to return to Biu.

According to Comfort;

“I went to his house and he prevented me from going back to my father’s house that day. I told him that if he did not want me to return to my father’s house, then he would marry me and I would stay with him. He agreed. He seized my phone and he forced me to have s3x with him that day.”

According to her, she was a virgin prior to approaching journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center in Bauchi on Thursday, November 4.

Comfort continue;

“I told him that was not our agreement. He promised to get back to me and take me to live with him. When I came home my father almost killed me for sleeping outside.

“Few days later, I started vomiting. My father noticed and asked my mother. My mother said it was just malaria.”

Upon realizing she was pregnant, she ran to her aunt’s house in Tafawa Balewa, since her father had warned his daughters that if they became pregnant in the house, they would be disowned.

According to her, Sergeant Simon became angry at her both times she visited him in Biu, and both times he threatened not to marry her again.

She also stated that since giving birth to a baby boy in June 2019, the soldier has not seen her and his number has been disconnected.

 “I communicated with one of his friends who told me they have been posted to Maiduguri. The friend told me that Julius said he would not marry me again,” adding that she regretted going out with Simon.

“How can you treat someone that you said you love like this?
” she asked rhetorically, adding that her soldier lover had cheated her.

In response to a question about what she wants, the mother of one said that all she wants is justice, adding that the soldier should take responsibility for his child.

“I want justice. Let him come and be a father to his son because the boy is two years old now and has started asking for his father.

“Julius was the one that deflowered me. He promised to marry me but deceived me. I will never love or trust any man again but he must take care of his son.”

Comfort, who was in the company of her father, appealed to the Army authorities to assist her in finding her son’s father and make him take responsibility for him.

She stated;

“As for me, l no longer love him. I have forgiven him but won’t marry him again.”
