 FUTA graduates 160 first class students

100 and sixty college students of the Federal College of Expertise, Akure (FUTA) might be graduating with First Class because the establishment holds its thirty second convocation between Nov. 26 and Nov. 27.


FUTA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Fuwape disclosed this on Friday in Akure at a information briefing forward of the following convocation and the Fortieth anniversary of the college.



Fuwape, represented by the establishment’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Phillip Oguntunde, mentioned that out of 5,114 graduands, 3,205 are within the undergraduates’ class whereas 1,909 are within the post-graduate class.


He mentioned that 1,334 college students have Second Class Honours (Higher Division), 1,483 college students have Second Class Honours (Decrease Division) whereas 222 and 6 college students are graduating with Third Class and Cross, respectively.


The vice-chancellor famous that Miss Taiwo Oluyale of the Division of Constructing is the very best graduating scholar with a CGPA of 4.89.



In response to him, the establishment which began in 1981 with 149 college students and three faculties now has 25,000 college students, 9 faculties, a faculty of postgraduate research, and 55 departments.


Fuwape famous that FUTA had absolutely commenced its medical programme with the graduation of lecture by the pioneering college students of the Faculty of Well being Sciences on Oct. 24.



He defined that the establishment had duly justified the explanations for its institution, saying that it had contributed to human capital improvement within the nation and past.


The vice-chancellor acknowledged that the establishment would bestow honorary doctorates on three Nigerians on Saturday for his or her excellent contributions to the society.

“I’m happy to tell you that the college will confer honorary doctorate diploma on Chief Adebimpe Aladejana-Ogunleye of the Obajimo Osupa Dynasty of Akure Kingdom. He’s to be honoured with a Physician of Science diploma.



“Dr. Haroun Adamu to be honoured with Physician of Administration Science and Dr Ephraim Fagba Faloughi might be honoured with Physician of  Administration Science,” he mentioned.


Fuwape mentioned that three eminent three students can be honoured with the place of Professor Emeritus in recognition of their contributions to the academia.



“For the primary time within the historical past of the college, three eminent students might be recognised as professors emeritus.


“They’re Prof. Ekundayo Adeyemi, former Performing Vice-Chancellor of FUTA; Prof. Olugboyega Ademosun, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Oluwole Falaki, Pioneer Prof. of Laptop Science within the college,” he acknowledged.


Fuwape mentioned that the convocation and the Fortieth-anniversary lecture entitled “Innovation, Expertise and Prospects of Prosperity for Posterity in Nigeria” might be delivered by Prof. Pat Utomi of the Lagos Enterprise College.
