Catholic Diocese relieves longtime priest aged 86 of duties after he?s accused of sexually abusing 12 year old boy

The Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn in New York has eliminated a priest from his duties at two Queens church buildings after he was credibly accused of sexually abusing a minor.

 

Based on diocese officers, Rev. Peter Mahoney, 86, allegedly sexually abused a sufferer between 1975 and 1978, when he was serving at St. Martin of Excursions Church in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Diocese officers mentioned they first realized of the allegations in October 2020 by way of its tip line, after which opened an investigation and contacted legislation enforcement officers.

 

One other allegation surfaced in an April lawsuit, the Diocese officers mentioned.

That case stems from alleged abuse in 1963 and 1964 when Mahoney was the principal on the Church of St. Leonard of Port Maurice College, in line with the lawsuit.
