A shootout with the police has resulted in the death of three suspected armed robbers in Shiashie, a suburb of Accra.
According to OLASMediaTV.com, the robbers were following a businessman who had just left a bank and accosted him as he attempted to withdraw cash from the bank.

SACP Kwasi Ofori, acting Director-General of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, told a press briefing that the robbers opened fire on the police who in turn returned fire.
This led to the shooting and subsequent deaths of three armed robbers and the arrest of two others.
After the gunfight, the Police retrieved several weapons, money, a phone, and other items said ASP Kwasi Ofori.
A loaded pistol was found on them (the robbers). It was intended to cause death and injury. The bodies have been taken to the police morgue for preservation while an autopsy and report are carried out,” he said.
According to him, the police are determined to rid the country of all robberies throughout the country.
