The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the assassination of one of its commanders, claiming that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma will pay a high price.
The PUNCH previously announced that IPOB’s leader, identified as Ikonso, and six other militia members were killed in Imo by police operatives and their counterparts from the Nigerian Army and Department of State Services.
On Saturday, the IPOB men were killed in an early morning raid on their hideout in Awomama village in the state’s Oru East Local Government Area.
“The killing of the valiant innocent Biafrans defending our villages and towns from Fulani terrorist herdsmen masquerading as cattle herders in cold blood is very painful,” IPOB said in a statement signed by its spokesman Emma Powerful on Saturday.
“The Supreme Court Administrator of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, and all those who had a hand in this wickedness will pay dearly,” the declaration continued.
“I hope Uzodinma and his timid Nigerian security forces, who are incapable of confronting Fulani militants and only flex their muscles when they see Biafra agitators. Uzodinma has stung the hornet’s nest by assassinating Ikonso, the ESN (Eastern Security Network) team leader, in cold blood! He should brace himself for a string.
“Uzodinma wanted to assassinate Ikonso because he turned down his offer to lead the Ebubeagu ghost security outfit, which southeast governors founded. Uzodinma has attempted but failed to entice ESN operatives to Ebubeagu. He had made tempting concessions to them, which they had refused, prompting him to resort to the assassination of these brave heroes who had sworn never to betray Biafra.
“Contrary to statements made by cowardly security forces fleeing jihadists but killing ordinary people, they were unable to infiltrate the camp of the Eastern Security Network. They just ambushed Ikonso, but we will punish them for their cowardice!
“I hope Uzodinma has murdered sleep and is prepared to remain alive! Fulani terrorists posing as cattle sellers in Enugu burned a police truck and assaulted government officials on duty with AK-47s, but no Army, police, or DSS officers have attacked them so far. However, ESN operatives protecting our cities from terrorism are being tracked down like prey on a daily basis. The world has remained silent about this atrocity until we launch our own insanity.”
