Gang, How We Planned and kidnapped Banks Managers and Collected Ransom In Dollars

A former driver in a Warri branch of a new generation bank in Delta State is currently in police custody for allegedly orchestrating three Manager’s kidnapping in the state.

The alleged mastermind, Owes Okpaka, was said to have N15m stocks from a collective amount of N50m ransom paid to free three bank manager’ identified only as Mr Imani, Mrs Isioma and Mrs Zowa.

Four additional members of Okpaka’s gang, Lawrence Egagah, Victor Dominic, Usobotie Sylvester and Alex Okon, were arrested.

Okpaka allegedly provided the gang with info leading to the directors’ distinct abduction between October 2020 and February 2021. It was observed that the ransoms were accumulated in bucks.

Saturday PUNCH accumulated that Imani, the director of this bank branch in Warri Urobo College, was abducted on his way home by members of this gang on October 5, 2020, along with a ransom N15m was compensated for his release.

The gang thus kidnapped Zowa, the director of this Ogonu Warri division and Isioma, the director of this Effurun branch, also allegedly accumulated N35m ransom.

It was learnt that the Force Intelligence Response Team’s operatives went following the gang after a request to the authorities.
Investigation into the events resulted in the arrest of Okpaka, who led detectives to apprehend four members.

Okpaka, a native of Ubogo Community at the Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, clarified he obtained N2.5m each about the first two abductions and live-in N10m in the past operation.

He stated, “I had been working in the Ogonu branch of this lender for a driver, but that I stepped from January 2021. I was arrested because I masterminded the kidnappings of three coworkers. I brought the three kidnapping tasks that involved the bank supervisors. I tracked their movements and handed their places to my group members.

“The next kidnapping was of Mrs Isioma. Victor kept her at his home and that I was a part of this ransom negotiation. They compensated N20m and I obtained N10m as my talk. I utilized my Toyota Corolla car to pick up the ransom. This was the previous kidnapping I did until I had been detained.”
