Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are officially calling it quits after trying to work past difficulties. On Thursday afternoon, both issued a joint announcement shared exclusively with Now.
“We’ve realized we’re much better as friends and look forward to staying so. We’ll continue working together and encourage each other on our shared companies and projects. We wish the very best for each other and one another’s kids. Out of admiration for them, the only other remark we must say is thank you to everybody who has sent kind words and support,” the announcement read.
A couple of weeks later, the news is Lopez, 51, and Rodriguez, 45, declared they were”working through a few matters” subsequent information that both had finished their participation in early March.
“They officially broke up and spoke about it but are still together. They hit a tough spot. Nevertheless, they weren’t divided. She is working in the Dominican Republic and he is in Miami so it is tough seeing each other particularly with quarantining and COVID, however, they wish to attempt and stay together,” a source near the pair told PEOPLE then.
When the news first broke in early March that the two were calling it quits, a source told PEOPLE it had”been a long time coming.”
But soon after, Rodriguez flew into the Dominican Republic, where the two spent time together as she movies Shotgun Wedding. A source told PEOPLE in late March that the bunch was”doing what they can to enhance their connection ”
“He flew back to invest a couple more times with Jennifer,” an insider told PEOPLE roughly Rodriguez. “He’s making a large effort, and he wants Jennifer to become joyful.”
“Jennifer was eager to see him in person. They’re actually trying to figure out things,” another Lopez source told PEOPLE at the moment. “It was a joyful reunion.”
The source clarified that Lopez has been”very much prepared to give up” in their connection, but”she’s happy they’re still together.”
J-Rod got participated in the Bahamas in March 2019 after dating for a couple of decades. Over the last year, the couple has spent some time at home. Throughout the pandemic using their mixed families — Lopez’s 13-year-old twins Maximilian”Max” David and Emme Maribel, whom she’s singer Marc Anthony and the former MLB player’s allies Ella, 12, along with Natasha, 16, whom he had with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
